intercourse pain

I experience pain during intercourse. My husband is an excellent lover, and very supportive. I am easily arroused, but have always experienced pain deep inside when he thrusts that ranges in intensity from an ache like a bruise to a stabbing pain. As we have been married for almost ten years, we have tried everything and ruled out the typical suggestions like change in position, lubrication, need for forplay etc...I also feel the pain when I have used Tampons. I have no diseases as I was a virgin when we got married. I have experienced 5 miscarriages as late as 3 mos. into one pregnancy, and with our four children have had very long labors (32+ hours) because my cervix dialates slowly. I am wondering what it is wrong. I was told by a doctor that my husband could be hitting my cervix, but there was nothing we could do.

Re: intercourse pain

I had similar issues. Pain with sex and I could never wear tampons because of the pain.
What worked for me was a few things. 1st I had to learn to relax. I would tense up because all pervious sex had resulted in pain. So I had to learn to relax. Invest in some relaxation tapes that helped me.
Then do Kegel exercises to strengthen your muscles and keep them from contracting and causing you more pain.
My sex therapist also started me on a dilators program. They start at the size of a tampon and work up to your partner’s size. You insert them and let them sit for 10 minutes and then do kegels with them. Helps retain your muscles and your brain.
I also just had my first session of pelvic Physical Therapy for the pain and that seemed to work too. Again just some suggestions but you might look for doctors in your area.
