TOPIC: skipping unactive pills

skipping unactive pills

Anyone done this? I have heard you can skip the unactive pills, 28 day pack, and go right to the next week of active pills to skip your period. I havent tried this but am thinking about it. Since woman don't ovulate while on the pill, so I've heard, this shouldnt hurt, right?

Re: skipping unactive pills

I am on this form of birth control. You can do it with any pill, but the best success seems to be pills with steady-dose hormones. You can do it with cyclic hormones, but some women complain of greater incidents of PMS, etc. It should be done under the supervision of the doctor if you're going to do it for more than a month or two. YOu do have to allow yourself to menstrate at times, and your doctor can help you determine what schedule is best for you. I usually menstrate every 4 months or so. Most women do every 3.

Re: skipping unactive pills

I used to skip them all the time when I was on 28 day pills, I have taken probably 7 different pills over the years and have done it with all of them, just make sure your doctor will give you an extra pack or two, because it does make you run out quicker!

Re: skipping unactive pills

Thank you Princess. Do doctors "ok" this idea? My doc probably won't. She won't even listen to me when I tell her I think my testosterone is low. I should probably find a new doc! Does skipping the unactive pills cause you to have spotting? I haven't had any problems with Jasmine so i'm thinking I should probably be ok. Thanks alot for you opinion! I am really glad I have found this site!!

Re: skipping unactive pills

The spotting always varied, it was a some months but not others issue. My doctor told me about it, he was always very up on the issues, he actually told me about doing it over 5 years ago, becaue I suffer from migranes during my cycle from the estrogen drop.

Re: skipping unactive pills

Hi princess. I get migranes alot. I wonder if they could be caused by my period. Although mine seem to happen when ever. I dont really notice an increase before or during my cycle. Thanks for your input!

Re: skipping unactive pills

Most docs should know about this by now. It's FDA approved, and one pill manufacturer has even come out with a pill made specificaly to be taken this way.

Re: skipping unactive pills

My migranes only occured the week of my cycle. Do an experiment and track your migranes to see when they happened. The ironic thing is I have since stopped taking the pill all together, and I do not get migranes anymore, so i think they were triggering them for me. Your doctor would know about skipping the sugar pill, I have found they dont offer information alot of times you have to ask them specifically. If you like the pill your are on, I wouldnt switch to the seasonal pill just to see if you like skipping the cycles, try it with your own first then decide. The seasonal pill can cause the same break through spotting regular pills can.
