Dr. Goldstein's Estrogen/Testosterone Compound

Hello everyone,

My wife has been suffering from VVS for about five years now and we have been trying to find answers--like many of you, this search for information has led us to this website. Thus far, doctors have suggested the following treatments which have not helped at all:

Lidocaine
Estrogen Cream
Physical Therapy
Antidepressants

Some of these have been tried one at a time, but at some points, all of these treatments were used simultaneously. My wife has been on and off birth control since she was 16 due to irregular cycles. She also has endometriosis which causes debilitating pain and as a result is taking BC pills nonstop with no period at all. This has been going on for three years or so and is the first relief she has really ever had for this condition, but unfortunately this "solution" appears to be a possible culprit for the VVS.

At this point her doctor has now suggested surgery for the VVS, mostly it seems, because nothing else has worked. I found this site and thought that it might be worthwhile for my wife to try the compound that Dr. Goldstein has mentioned.

The one major drawback is that Dr. Goldstein seems to be the only one who holds the "key" to the proper prescription since this condition appears to be severely understudied and not well understood by the average doctor. Is there anyway to have her doctor contact Dr. Goldstein's office for a recommended prescription?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Dr. Goldstein's Estrogen/Testosterone Compound

I know Dr G has said the the compound doesn't work unless you're off bcps....it needs to be estrogen and testosterone mix. I think he's said he's also tried anti inflammatories in the compound. What kind of pill is she on? Switching to a higher estrogen pill won't undue the damage, but maybe you could ask if it could help stem further damage?

You could try having her doctor contact him. If that doesn't work try finding a dr that has prescribed this medication before through nva.org.

Also there are a few other therapies she could try if she's not ready for surgery yet.

Re: Dr. Goldstein's Estrogen/Testosterone Compound

I think the pill is called Nortrel but I would have to double check. We're both turning 30 this year and we want to have kids so she is planning to come off the BCPs. So, now would seem to be the best time to try the compound that Dr. Goldstein prescribes. We will try to have her doctor contact Dr. Goldstein's office and see what happens. Thanks for the reply!
