A question for Niva please!

Dear Niva

You may or may not know from my previous posts of my condition. I have a painful "spot" around my urethra, mostly above the urethra. It is not much bigger than a pencil eraser. I have had this for 7 years and no medications have made any difference ( I have tried them all!).

I recently had a vestibulectomy (4 months ago ) and am still in quite some pain. My pain is either a bruised type feeling or, usually if aggravated, a raw, scratchy feeling.

I have no urinary problems or bowel issues and no other pelvic pain at all, except for this little area around the urethra. Is it possible, from the pain I describe, that I may have PFD? I am considering asking my Dr about this, but would value your comment as a first resource.

Thank you.

Re: A question for Niva please!

imsoretoo,
From my knowledge in working with similar case and from information from the MDs, usually after a (good) vestibulectomy, ongoing (not healing) pain may be due to PFD. Definitely ask your doctor, but also know in many states you may seak a PT on your own too.

Re: A question for Niva please!

DanielleBAN, yes PFD and poor muscle mobility or poor connective tissue mobility may lead to painful urination.

Re: A question for Niva please!

When I sit too long, I get a throbbing pain inside my butt cheeks, is that due to pelvic floor spasms or is that because the nerve is compressed by the spasms?

thank you

Re: A question for Niva please!

DanielleBan, throbbing is usually a description of "muscular" pain. That being said, I can't tell you if that is definitely true in your case as I would also need to assess the nerve.
