Niva--pain after pt
I did a search and have seen that pain after pt is normal sometimes, but I had really severe pain after my last session and am concerned. I have right lower abdominal pain, right glute pain, right lower back pain, pain in my right labia (or maybe the mucle underneath) and pain at the right crease between my thigh and pelvic area that starts in front and wraps all the way around to the anal area. The pain is really intense and was enough to make it difficult to fall asleep even after taking ibubrofen (not sure if that would help this kind of soreness anyway).
I've had 3 sessions, and it's like after each session the pain intensifies. The first session the pain lasted 1 day and was just in my glute and not extreme at all. The second session the pain lasted for 1 day went away for 1 day when I did yoga, then came back the next day after using dilators the night before. ( I thought maybe the dilators were to blame at the time). That was the first time I had pain in my labia and the pain that wraped around between my thigh and pelvic area.
But after my last visit (and no additional dilator usage) the pain is extreme and there are new areas hurting too--lower abs, back.
I go to pt 2x a week. The therapist said she thought my muscles were releasing and I was responding quickly to treatment. She records pain caused by the previous session at the beginning of each new session and said the first session that she does not want the pain to last more than 1 day, or she will scale back.
It is not the pain of the session that are bad. The lidocaine numbs my vestibule and my muscles don't hurt much at all when she presses on them,,, but the pain AFTERWARDS is insane. My husband was really paranoid that they were doing permanent damage or something that could cause a whole new set of problems.
I guess my question is, have you ever encountered personally or heard of a case where pain caused by pt did not quickly subside or was permanent? And should I go to my second session this week or give my body time to recoup? SHould I call my pt and let her decide? SHould I contact my vulvar specialist and ask her opinion? WHy is the pain always on the right side? Is 2x a week of pt too much? I really didn't feel like my muscles were my primary problem, so I would hate to cause new issues in my body over this.
