You should probably see a doctor to be sure...if things have not yet improved. If I were losing my virginity all over again I would personally try dilators first. You can buy a set at vaginismus.com. Once you work up to the largest one, use the whole set immediately prior to sex so you are stretched out. If the smallest dilator hurts, make a note of the measurements and see a doctor.
Also do the qtip test. rub a qtip around in the entrance to your vagina. If it hurts you may have vestibulitis. If the qtip test hurts then print out info on vestibulitis and bring it with you to your doctors appointment. You could also have tight pelvic muscles.....
You could try a regular gynecologist since you're not sure you have a problem yet, but I have to tell you 5 gynecologists totally blew diagnosing me so I suffered needlessly for many years. All they usually do is check for yeast , BV, STDs, UTIs. You could go straight to a vulvar pain or pelvic pain specialist. Try nva.org and or issvd.org to find a specialist in your area.
In the mean time try to discern where it is painful and what the sensations are so you can give your doctor as much info as possible. Is it just in the first inch of the canal? Is there a burning, stinging, or ripping feeling? Are your muscles relaxed or contracting? Do you feel over stretched? Is it a muscular or skin overstretching? Is the pain at 6 oclock or all the way around? Is it worse at certain times of the month? etc.
To make sex more comfortable you can also get a lidocaine prescription. It does sting when you apply it though and it can make him numb if you use a whole bunch and he's not wearing a condom. Go easy though even if you're numb!
