Stopped BC pills for pain relief

Hi there,
I have stopped birth control pills as of 2 weeks ago and started with the cream. Is it normal to have daily headaches after stopping the pill and what would the cause be? The last time I stopped same thing and was the reason I went back on after 3 months. Perhaps the Dr. or others have suggestions and explanations for the reason. At 40, I am also wondering if tubal ligation will affect hormones at all. My goal is to cure the vulvodynia first, but also need reliable birth control and no headaches.
I have heard progesterone cream can assist but not sure if over the counter is helpful.
Thank you!

Hey not sure about the headaches, but I just wanted to comment that you shouldn't try the progesterone unless you consult with a doctor knowledgeable about vestibulitis/hormonal creams. It could possibly interfere....low estrogen BC pills like Yasmine are already high in progesterone....

Re: Stopped BC pills for pain relief

Thanks for the reply.
My NP suggested that the progestin in the pill is different from progesterone.....but didn't have a thought either way or if would do anything.
I am off of the pill now anyway.
I was recently on Yaz and before that Yasmin and wonder if the estrogen was so low and that was the cause of my hair thinning. Well, I will ask my NP again about the use of the cream or hopefully someone has a comment on this forum that is familiar. Thanks for the tip! Seems not everyone knows if good or bad. It is an OTC cream, may not do much anyway.
Thanks!

Re: Stopped BC pills for pain relief

to answer your question about the headaches and birth control... I had really bad migraines with birth control so I stopped... a month after stopping the pill (orthocycline) I got strange migraines, then 3- 4 months after, I got a week straight of severe migraines taht I went to the hospital! But, all then all the headaches went away after about 5-6 months. I think it takes awhile for the pill to really get out of your system.... the doctors do not support that, but it really seems likely that my headaches had to do with the change in hormone levels.. it's been a year without the pill.. and no more migraines. I have vulvar vestibilitis and stopping the pill has done nothing for my condition.

Just stopping the pill will not cure vulvar vestibulitis. If your doctor said that is what you have what is he/she doing to treat you.

Re: Stopped BC pills for pain relief

my doctor in France that said I had vulvar vestibulitis. she said it was no big deal (and boy was i relieved when she said that). she just said to use this fatty cream twice a day... but it did not do anything so i'm seeing a specialist in 2 months.. doctors that i saw at my university knew nothing about my condition..
