My doctor prescribed an estrogen cream to give me relief from my vestibulitis. How long will it take to see any results?

Should I better ask for an estrogen-testosterone-compound instead of the estrogen-only-cream?

I suppose you could ask your doctor why he prescribed only estrogen, and how long before you should feel results.

Ask your doctor, but I will be using my script for about 6 months. I started to see results in about a month and a half. Would recommend the testosterone also esp if you have thin skin or a tear.

Regarding the estrogen, I was told it would take between 6 weeks to 3 months. Are you on the pill? It's much more likely to work if you're off it.
As for testosterone, I'd suggest checking your testosterone, SHBG etc levels first to see what your baseline is, as it can have side effects if you end up having too much.

I have a question of my own to everyone who uses estrogen for VVS - how many times a week do you use it? I've been applying a pea sized amount twice a week but I've heard of women using it nightly and even twice a day - not sure it was for VVS though. Also, I've been applying it directly on the vestibule, but I read that there's not too many estrogen receptors there, so it would be more effective to use it inside - anyone heard about this?

Keren, I use a pea-size amount every night before i go to sleep. but this may also depend on how much estrogen there is in the cream. I have been doing this for 3 weeks. I apply it right after the hymen, a little bit inside of the vagina, because this is where I feel most of the pain. I hope this is of help?

Good point, can't believe I didn't think of it. Mine says "each gram contains 1 mg of estradiol", what does yours say?
I was wondering, since you say your pain is mostly located inside the vagina and not on the vestibule, maybe it's not vestibulitis?

keren, i relaized that i haven't answered your question about the pill. I used to be on the nuvaring but stopped about a 9 month ago.

My cream contains "estriol" 0.5mg on each gram.

All the doctors I went to said that it's vestibulitis, it's really right at the entrance to the vagina...

To everone: How about the results using the cream, does anyonehave anyone painless sex thanks to the estrogen cream?

For those of you who are using estrogen cream or estrogen/testosterone cream, how much are you supposed to really rub it in? I was told to make sure to rub it in, but how much do you really need to?

i was not told how to apply the cream, but i try to rub it in as good as possible.

how do you feel using the cream, have you noticed any improvements?

I've been using my E/T cream for about a month now and have not noticed any improvements. My doctor said that my vestibular skin is very thin and due to that, my nerves have become exposed which is causing my pain. I'm thinking that maybe b/c my case is so bad, that I won't feel any improvements until months of treatment. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Suffering, Thanks for your answer. I made a mistake, btw, mine says "estriol" too. To answer your question, I'm not even close to pain free sex yet, but I do have significant improvement. Which brings me to my next question - lotus, did your pain keep improving, or did you just see an initial improvement which you are simply maintaining? So far my case is the latter, but I haven't been using it that long.

Micky84, I would stick with it at least for another month, IIRC I was told it might take up to three. Also, I already tried the cream once before when I was still on the pill and back then it did nothing for me, so if you're on it I'd suggest stopping.

Finally, is the cream messing with anyone's cycle? It did with mine a little bit, I hope it goes back to normal in the next one...

Today I was talking to my gyn about the testosterone/estradiol compound. She said she knows that Dr. Goldstein uses methylcellulose as a base but she doesn't know why. She told me that to her it makes more sense to use a cream instead of a gel as a base. Does anybody know why methylcelluolse is used?

My doctor has given me vagifem suppositories and a topical estrace cream. I had minimal relef but nothing major. Is the cream a better choice - I don't want to take estrogen if I don't have to b/c of its side effects.
