Question for Amy or Niva

None of the doctors I have seen for my condition have been able to answer this, so I am hoping you may. My pain which is either rectal or vestibule pain comes and goes. Some days are fairly tolerable while others are suicidal ( literally).
Now my question is- could there be a hormonal component, something strucurally wrong with my back perhaps that when I move a certain way, it is irritated? I just can't grasp the whole idea of one day being so much worse than another, when physically I pretty much do the same amount of sitting, same activities- any thoughts??? thank you

Re: Question for Amy or Niva

Yes there can be a hormonal component or a structural issue with your back. Alignment plays a large role, I believe, in pelvic pain. The hormonal you need to address with a physician, but I will tell you I see many women who have the same complaint with different days being different pain levels. Many of my patients also state pain increased prior to menstruation. I currently am seeing someone that has your complaints.
I also recommend some sort of therapy especially with comments of "suicidal" days. This is an actual pain disorder you are dealing with and very difficult to understand and to have others understand. I address this with all patients and recommend a psychologist or social worker.

Re: Question for Amy or Niva

also, i want to add that there is hope with the proper combo of therapies (medical, physical therapy and psychotherapy). I always ask my patients to compare the worst pain from when I met them to the present and also bad pain days vs better/good/no pain days. The better days does increase!

Re: Question for Amy or Niva

Thanks Niva,

I need to hear that! I just wish I knew for sure what was happening, why some days are not as bad as others. It makes no sense, and I haven't been able to get any doctor to explain it to me, I guess maybe no one really knows. Today, for example I lifted a few big heavy bags and I got a sharp pain up my vagina. Do you think that sounds like something wrong with my back or does that sound more like alignment?
