Compounding lidocaine ointment (Dr. G. or anyone else?)

I currently live overseas so that biofeedback and vestibulectomy are not available to me. My doctor (American military) wants to help me and we want to try using the 5% lidocaine ointment on a cottonball every night because it's a simple beginning (and makes life more comfortable). I can't use the commercially prepared lidocaine ointment because it burns when I apply it which may cause more inflammation. I had laser surgery in the past to release clitoral adhesions and was given 4% lidocaine topical solution for that and had no problem with the lidocaine. I also can use the 2% lidocaine jelly without any problem, so I know it's not the lidocaine but the polyethelene glycol base. The military does not compound meds but the doc will write a script that I can mail to a pharmacy in the States. Because militarys doc see all kinds of medical issues, I usually wind up doing the research and legwork for the docs here then turn it over to them to consider.

So, what are some good ointment bases for 5% lidocaine for the vulva? The jelly and topical solution don't work for overnight treatment because they dry out and make the cotton ball stick (ouch!).

You might have to contact a pharmacy (compounding) in the USA to find out what else can be used.
