pathology of removed skin
What I don't understand is that after a surgery for vulvar vestibulitis, there is a pathology report (of the removed skin) that sometimes come back saying it was positive for a skin condition such as in this post:
"It's been 8 weeks since my surgery. At the first 4 weeks were painful and hard, but I followed my docs instructions and now I am pain free, my pathology came back with a positive for a skin condition called "lichen sclerosus" which was causing the tearing and pain upon intercouse."
Why wouldn't we be able to test the skin before the surgery to know that there was a skin condition? Is it possible that vulvar vestibulitis is a skin infection that we can only see after it is removed? I'm confused.
In my case, my vulvar vestibulitis feels like it is infected every time I try intercourse. But, obviously, I've done every test that says otherwise. (In my personal case, my vv seems to come and go, but for now it looks like a condition that is staying.)
