Barth Gland Duct Pain Post Vestibulectomy

Hi, had a successful Vulvar Vestibulectomy in 2006 that resolved 85% of my pain. The remaining pain I experience is located at my left Barth Gland duct (BG's weren't removed during procedure) which makes sitting very difficult during certain times of the month.

I'm having tremendous difficulty locating a physician with expertise in Barth Glands (dx if my pain is coming from them and if so being skilled enough to remove them) and am interested in obtaining feedback from other list members. If anyone else has had a similar experience to mine and knows any doctors that are good with BG's please let me know.

Thanks in advance for info.

Re: Barth Gland Duct Pain Post Vestibulectomy

Hi, i'm not sure where u are located however i am in the uk. My probs were slighlty different to yours. i suffered badly from bartholins abseces. I have had a few ops. 1st being the marsipulized, then i had excision, followed by removal of the bartholins gland, which i had done in april last year.I found this op very invasive and afterwards i lost a lot of blood and was very ill. I also took a clot and had to go back to theatre the same evening and have this removed. I was left very badly bruised to the extent that on the left hand side i was bruised black from the labia right up my left buttock. The pain was excrutiating and was in a lot of pain for a good few mnths after words. Problems sitting and walking etc etc. I required further surgery in july last year. Since then i have had a further op in march this year due to being very uncomfortable and painful sitting and walking, this is now due to the fact that the skin and scar tissue in this area is very tight and after each op the stitches are not holding together due to there being not a lot of skin left to work with. i have had a long receovery period as the wounds have then had to be left open to heal. I am still in a lot of pain sitting and walking. also During intercourse (this is actually impossible ). I am now seeing a reconstructive surgeon tonite as have now been advised that this is only option to fix this once and for all. as far as i am aware they need to bulid what they call a flap, using skin from the buttock area. Not sure of much else this surgery involves. . .time will tell i suppose. for now i am still very uncomfortable and in pain daily. My gyn doctor has been great and always explains things prior to the surgery. i know this is slightly diff to what u are going thru however i hope the info on the removal of the gland helps you to make the right descion for you. if u asked me if i would still have gone ahead knowing what i do now. .. yeah i think i still would as after all it has removed the initial problem and i am half way there to being sorted completley. wishing u lots of luck, and i hope u are well soon x
