question for the physician and/or Ms Herzig

I am experiencing pain at the vestibule, I have read various articles about the association between IC and vulvar vestibulitis. Can one have IC without frequency and urgency? My levator ani muscle is in spasm and I am experiencing pain at the bottom portion of the vestibule with deeper vaginal pain and rectal pain as well. The pain seems worse when I sit too long. Does this sound like IC and what is the best testing to rule out IC

Re: question for the physician and/or Ms Herzig

It sounds by your description that there is pelvic floor dysfunction associated with your current condition/symptoms. It does not sound like IC, but I cannot diagnose medical conditions and definitely not on email.

It is common for women to have both VVS and IC, but I would say that IC should have bladder symptoms either or frequency, urgency and pain (one or any of the combo). A urologist specializing in IC would do testing for you. This may include Cystoscopy w/hydrodistention or perhaps a potassium sensitivity test; some just use current questionnaires. First though they rule out other issues such as infections.

Again, from your description, it does not sound like IC though.
