TOPIC: I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

I am a woman who suffers from vulvadynia, 18 months now. Any way I have figured out the reason and I want to share it with all the women who suffer from vulva pain. I am not a doctor, I am just a woman who became a walking science experiment. The reason for my burning, stinging pain, small cuts is due to two things. One is a PH imbalance and two an inability to metabolize weak acids. Sort of like heart burn in your vagina. This over acidification has taken years to effect my body this way and therefore it has taken several months to resolve. No drugs, no surgery. I will tell you I have had to change my diet. This is not the low oxalate diet, that is not exactly the problem. The solution is slightly detailed but I will start with the first part of the plan. In order to heal you need to get PH stix or litmus paper, available online or in health food stores. Then begin to measure your urine PH, especially after you eat. Start to notice what makes you alkaline or acidic. Keep track of the food you have eaten along side the PH measurement about 30 minutes later. Next, avoid the following foods: Coffee, alcohol, tea (herbal is okay), all fruit except bananas, peppers, tomatos, broccoli, kale, refined sugar, vinegar and whey. I know you are probably thinking what can I eat. Eat the following: Green veggies, except the ones listed above, most protein eaten with veggies, PH balanced water(evian, figi, evamor)whole wheat, oil, butter sea salt, dried fruit, almonds, seeds. That is a start. You will have to eat this way for a while.Okay that is enough for now. I will write more based on whether I see women respond. If you want to get better you need to be disciplined. I will happy to answer any and all questions. Thanks Good health Laura

Re: I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

Laura,

I am happy that you have found a solution. I think that someone with vulvodynia should try different things, and following this diet is safe regardless of whether it works or not.

However, I do want to warn others that there are not any studies that support this theory that a low oxalate diet helps. I remember how elated I was when I heard about this diet 2 years ago - I thought I had found a cure! However, after doing more research about the diet and speaking to many doctors I found that it is just a theory that has not been supported by any studies. I didn't have any relief after following it for a few months, nor have others.

So my advice to others: give it a try if you want to - who knows it just might work for you! But DO NOT pay any money to have your urine sent and tested! That is a scam!!!!!!!

Re: I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

Hi, this is not the low oxalate diet. It is a ph balanced diet where there are loads of scientific evidence. I suggest you read "The acid/alkaline diet" by Dr Vasey. I have followed this for 8 Months and it is the answer. The science is astounding but far too detailed to go into on this forum. The oxalate diet is not it. It is a weak acid intolerance. There is no sending of money to test urine. All that is required is for you to purchase litmus paper at a health food store about ten bucks! You test your own urine. I realize how deflated everyone must feel but I know this is it. I have helped others who are well for more than a few months. Just try it. I know giving up some of this food is upsetting but relief is bliss compared to the momentary pleasure of coffee and a donut.

Re: I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

I haven't heard of this diet before - sorry I assumed it was related to the low oxalate diet. I'll have to check it out on the net. (I'm basically cured of vv but I'm still in the habit of checking this forum and I like to give a little advice now and then to give others some hope)

Like I said before, I don't think there is anything harmful about trying this diet. And I won't say anything more negative about your diet because I am not well informed about the details. I just don't want others to feel false hope like I did. I remember 2 years ago when I read that someone said that a low oxalate diet was "the cure" for vulvodynia, and then how devastated I was when I learned that it didn't have much science to back up the claim.

But I think anything like this can at least be tried - no harm in trying. Others who are curious should it out.

I also know women who have had success following a gluten free diet. It didn't work for me, but it does for some.

this msg is for "mlehrhaupt" (re: vulvadynia).
I'm having a hard time navigating this website and would like to chat more with you about the PH factor. I have been suffering for almost 2 years and the closest I have come to finding relief is the low oxalate diet. This is a new twist for me and want to explore it further.

Re: I figured out the cause of Vulvadynia, vulva pain

PH balance and diet definitely can be a cause. For some though, diet doesn't make a difference. It depends on what the cause is. If it is a horomone-related it could be from birth control, menopause or hormone changes. If it is a result of the muscles, tissues and skeletal structure than physical therapy can be of great help. ETC

Each person's case may be different.
