I'm 23 years old and I have absoutly no sex drive. I've been in a relationship with the same guy for 3 years and it's been this way since the beginning. Ive been to several doctors, had many blood tests hormone tests, tried the sex pills anything pretty much I can think of. The only medical problem I had was that I was anemic, but I am not any more. It seems to be getting worse and worse. It is also ruining our relationship, we are pretty much giving it until the summer then we will be going our seperate ways, which I don't want to happen. Can anyone help?

Did you agree and hem yourself into a due-date or deadline (summer 2009)? That's more pressure for you. How did you agree on that? How did that conversation go, how did you both feel?

Are you on birth control. They play the devil with desire and libido.If you are you might want to ask your GYN to try you on a different BC.

He came to that decision because he can't handle it anymore. And I wasn't on the pill when we met, I went on it about 1 year into our relationship and I've been off of it for about 7 months and I now have an IUD. That was one of the things my doctor said that I should change.

tanyasmyth, Do you now, or have you ever given yourself pleasure or just explored your own body? Does your boyfriend really take his time getting you aroused? Or does he ask you what YOU want or need? You said that it has always been this way. Only with him? How about with previous partners? Have you talked about what's been going on with your boyfriend and is he supportive?
I can understand your frustration, but by having a time limit imposed, it will definitely not help.

tanyasmyth, do you enjoy sex once he has started.Is it painful or uncomfortable? There may be an underlying reason for your lack of a sex drive. Have you considered seeing a sex therapist.

Are you on any medications, like antacids? Do you take any herbs or vitamins? The way some of these things are digested can interfer with the levels of your sex hormones.

Also, even though you were told that your hormone levels were normal they may be lower than what is necessary for sexual function. Your doctor may not be aware of the levels necessary for sexual function.

I don't have any want to have sex in the first place. even while I'm having sex I just can't wait for it to be over. I got my hormone level checked because of my sex drive and they said taht I was fine, and that wasn't the reason for my lack of sex drive.

Women’s sexual concerns aren’t always taken as seriously as men’s. If a woman still has her period and is under 30 years old it is assumed that she has normal levels of her sex hormones and should have normal sexual response.

Here is my suggestion. Check the lab work and make sure that your testosterone level is higher than 40 ng/dl. Many women have extremely low testosterone levels and are still getting a period. If your testosterone level is too low you can lose your desire for sex and your sexual response.

If your testosterone level is below 40 ng/dl you may benefit from a bit of testosterone. Your doctor could prescribe a testosterone cream to raise your levels. You may only need 1-2 mg/day rubbed into your skin at bedtime.

tanyasmyth- what is new with you have you had any luck with this? I tried the testosterone cream and it did not do anything for me. Any other suggestions for her?

No luck here. My boyfriend and I are now seperated. I'm not looking for other people right now but it would be nice to solve this issue
