two types of pain

I'm a 22 year old who has been sexually active for a little over three years, but have never had an orgasm (alone, or with someone else).
In the past two years or so I've been experiencing regular pain. One type, which happens maybe about half of the time, starts as a piercing pain (located deep inside, though the specific location varies), and then just continues as a dull pain with nausea... sometimes the dull pain will last for up to an hour after we've stopped having sex.
When I don't experience this first type of pain (and thus can keep going), I sometimes can reach the point where I feel like I should be on the verge of climaxing, but then instead of having an orgasm I feel absolutely excruciating pain which spreads throughout my entire body.
I'm not sure whether either of these are physical in cause, or psychological, but would like some feedback... are either of these normal?

Re: two types of pain

Have you been to a Gyn for an examination? That might the place to start.He/She could diagnose and treat the problem.

Re: two types of pain

This sounds like a physical problem, which could develop into a psychological issue as well, b/c of the fear of pain. It is not normal to have such pain during sexual activity; however, it is common. You should seek out a healthcare provider that specializes in pelvic pain and female sexual dysfunction to get an accurate diagnosis (websites: pelvicpain.org, nva.org, apta.org/womenshealth-find a provider, twshf.org). It could be a muscular, nerve or organ issue. It is difficult to diagnosis by email.

Re: two types of pain

Thanks! I've seen a few people, but neither were specialists and they could not identify anything obvious. One of them suggested it might be an extension of my fibromyalgia.
