Labia minora swelling

Ok, this is really embarassing but I'm sooo desperate. Umm, I went outstation last week, so I've been using disposable panties throughout that time. It was rather itchy but I gave it no more thought.
The last day before I got back, I was feeling a little sore around my vaginal area but I didn't see any swelling so I thought maybe my skin was a little irritated from the panties.
When I got back, I checked seriously and found out my right labia minora was swelling. It's been about 5 days and no improvement at all! No vaginal discharge. It hurts and itches when I walk, sit, sleep... it's driving me nuts!!!
Just for your info, I'm only 17 and still a virgin. I'd prefer not to tell my mom. Please give me some advice that can be done at home, I really don't want to go to the doctor...
I want to cry, I can't walk properly and school isn't helping...Please help me! Please tell me it's not serious!!!

Re: Labia minora swelling

Kimmy, there is no way you can be diagnosed over the internet. You may have a yeast infection but a doctor has to test you in order to treat you.

Re: Labia minora swelling

Kimmy I know it's hard going to the doctor and being in high school and still a virgin, but you have to go. I'm pretty sure I developed a yeast infection the year before I started my period (I was definitely a total virgin), and lived with cyclical itching and irritation for many years. I was too embarrassed to tell my mom or go to the doctor. In fact my mom noticed discharge in my underwear while doing my laundry and siad that I might have to go to the doctor as I might have an infection, and I convinced her nothing was wrong. The thought having our old man family dr look down there at the age of 12 was unbearable!

I have vestibulitis now and sometimes wonder if having an untreated yeast infection all that time contributed to my issue. You MUST go to the dr!!!

Tell them you're a virgin and ask if there's some way they can examine you without a speculum. If not they have small diameter and pediatric speculums. An external evaluation may be all you need anyway. Perhaps they can just take a sample with a qtip. (I've had this done on several occasions, so if they tell you this is impossible they're wrong). Your mom will be supportive if you tell her and I'm sure will go with you and hold your hand.

If it turns out to be a yeast infection then you can ask for an oral treatment like diflucan if you don't like inserting things up there. DO NOT go to the drug store and self treat for yeast, because you have no idea what you have. The creams can cause irritation in some women and you shouldn't use one unless you have to. Besides you may miss a larger more serious problem by doing this.

Re: Labia minora swelling

Thanks for your advice, guys. But it's alot better now...or at least I think it is. The swelling has gone down abit and I examined myself in the shower today and found out there was pus coming out from the labia. You know, that kinda pus you get from huge pimples, yea something like that (I would know, since I get pimples all the time..). I just hope the rest comes out since it is still a little swollen...
Anyway, I can walk very well now and sitting is joyful. It's just that since there's a wound right beside it, so when I pee, it really burns..
I've already told my mom this morning when I got ready for school. She said we'd discuss it when she got back home.
Should I be happy it no longer hurts?

Re: Labia minora swelling

Kimmy, I am glad you are feeling better and that your Mom is going to talk to you about you problem. If it burns when you pee try pouring some warm water on your vulva as you do it , it will dilute the acid in the urine and make you feel better.

Re:Labia minora swelling

I would like to suggest, don't take any step in a rush.

my girlfriend has the labia minora on the left side and thats make her cranky every day and second and I become the victim but I love her so much. So she is free for everything.

I would like to tell you that I have been reading articles, websites, newspapers and etc.... but everyone say it's normal but being impatient my girlfriend took wrong decision a year back to go through operation for the same. Even doctor recommend to trim the same but unforutunately this quake has trim some extra part of the side labia. Now she is in deep pain and sometime i feel fail to help her but I am not giving up.

The moral of the true story is, don't take wrong decision being impatient.

I'll pray for you that you get the soluation as soon as possible and when you get something, please help me as well.

Thanks,
Inder
