Help am I paranoid?

I love to ride my mountian bike. The most I have ridden is 29 miles. I have never ridden a road bike. My friend aske me to ride a century 105 miles. Well I did the bike seat was narrow and very hard!! The ride took me 10 hours during which I had alot of pain and towards the end of the ride I went numb. I have alway had a great sex life with my husband, multiples in a night. It has been a week and my clit is still very numb. I am very worried cried all day please tell me this will get better.

Also my husband and I are celebrating our 25th the plan is to go on a tour with Holiday Expedition in Moab and ride our Mtn Bikes on the White rim about 25 to 30 miles a day. It is already paid for. Please tell me this is a passing numbness I am feeling on my clit and I will be back in full swing with wonderful orgasims.

Re: Help am I paranoid?

Get a different bike seat for starters. Please see your GYN for the numbness in your clitoris. Your post has also been put on our sexual pain forum.

Re: Help am I paranoid?

Well that was my fist time on the road bike and it will be my last! I went to a local bike store and rented it for the ride. A female employee is the one who chose the bike and fit it for me. Since mtn bikes and road bikes are different I went with what she said. Thanks

Re: Help am I paranoid?

Sunrise,
Unfortunately, I have seen issues in both avid road biking and mountain biking. I don't know enough about biking to tell you if one is worse than the other, but I can say that when patients come to see me if they are bikers, I tell them to give it a break. That being said, I cannot tell you if the numbness is going away soon or not as I don't know the damage to the area. If this is alos bothering you while sitting in regular chairs right now, I would also suggest getting a special cushion that relieves pressure on the nerves while you sit or drive.

I don't know when you plan your trip, but I would say do not ride for now.

Re: Help am I paranoid?

Thanks Niva,

I will be taking a break from my bike and spin class for the next 3 weeks. However I do have a anniversary trip planned and paid for in Moab with my husband it is our 25th. I am 43 my kids are grown and I have started to play outdoors.

My only concern was that I had done some longterm damage. I guess only time will tell.

Re: Help am I paranoid?

I did not realize there was a spinning class also involved. Yes, I would take a break from that too.
I can't tell you if there is longterm damage, but if you continue to ride right now, that could be a possibility. Unfortunately, I have seen it in my clinic.
Good luck and happy anniversary!

Re: Help am I paranoid?

i know we aren't suppose to post links here, but, can you google "ezseat"? my wife had similar results and the ez seat was a godsend for her. it has a pivoting cushion for each cheek and no front horn at all. now she can ride all day, pain free! this seat may be slightly heavier than your mountain bike seat, but not by much, i haven't seen it on a road bike yet, you may be the first. good luck.
