TOPIC: Testosterone dose level?

3 years, 6 months ago #6043

Testosterone dose level?

In light of the recent study done on the Intrinsa Transdermal Testosterone patch, which delivered 0, 150, or 300 micrograms of testosterone per day, I would like to know what the equivalent dose of testosterone cream is.

My wife is currently taking .25 ml of 1% testosterone cream. Can anyone tell me how many micrograms per day that is?

My wife lost her libido about 20 years ago and we have tried everything from counseling to supplements. The only thing that has come close is about 2 and 1/2 years ago when she made it up to 1.5 ml of 2% cream and actually began to feel her libido coming back. Unfortunately, this only lasted for a week because her lab tests came back high and her doctor cut the dosage in half. There were no side affects at all. No hair growth, no change in voice, etc. Before beginning therapy, her testosterone level was below the lower limit of normal.

Based on the results of the Intrinsa study, I would really like to know what dose level she is at, but I don't know how to convert .25 ml of 1% cream into micrograms per day.
Can someone please help?
Thanks,
- Rick

Re: Testosterone dose level?

Google microgram to milligram they have conversion charts.

Re: Testosterone dose level?

That was the first place I went, but we're talking about ml - milliliter to microgram which is volume to mass using the specific gravity. I've seen prescriptions that indicate x ug / ml, but this is 1% cream. So do you think I should take 1% of .25 ml times the specific gravity of testosterone to calculate the number of micrograms or is there some formula? I've searched all over the net and can't find this conversion. That's why I am asking here in the hopes that a doc can refer me to the equivalence between 1% cream and straight micrograms per day.
thanks

Re: Testosterone dose level?

You might be able to get that information from a compounding pharmacy in your city. They should be listed in the yellow pages.
